A 600m² old country house in the east of the Nethe A 600m² old country house in the east of the Netherlands, thoughtfully extended and transformed into a home that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Years of work went into shaping the interiors, from the layouts and material choices to the lighting, bespoke furniture and decoration. Working with a client with such a strong sense of style made the process all the more special. Back after a few weeks off. My team kept things m Back after a few weeks off. My team kept things moving while I took some proper time away with my family. Some holidays, work has a way of following you. This time, it barely did, and that felt good. The first half of the year was busy, hectic and not always smooth. Creating beautiful interiors but also solving things and keeping momentum. And that isn’t fun every single day. That’s just part of it. A real break gives you some distance. And perspective. My biggest takeaway? I was genuinely looking forward to seeing my team again, being back in our beautiful office, and getting to create interiors. We’re in the final stages of a few projects that have been with us for a long time, and I can feel the energy coming back for what’s next too. Ready for new projects, new ideas and the second half of the year.

The colours of the sea, the sand and the dunes became the natural palette for the interior. Our aim was to create a refined interior that doesn’t compete with its surroundings, but blends naturally into them. Most of the furniture was designed by us and produced in Indonesia. The lighting in the first image was made by a small atelier I happened to come across while cruising around Bali. Based on a few simple sketches, they created these lanterns especially for the project. It was a spontaneous decision and to this day, I still get asked where these lights are from. De Republiek may be one of our older projects, but it remains one we are incredibly proud of. A project where architecture, craftsmanship, materiality and nature truly came together.

From there, it’s about team brainstorms, countless drawings, presentations, and documentation. Sourcing materials, refining and changing our minds along the way. It’s about exchanging ideas, solving details and working closely with suppliers and specialists. During a renovation, collaboration and clear communication between everyone involved are key. Our role is to bring all these elements together and make the process as seamless as possible.
